The hotel is very central to Times Square and you can hear quite a bit of street noise, however we were only there for 1 night so didn't really bother us too much. The adjoining hotel bar/ lounge does not look like what is represented on the website and doesn't open till after 10am and therefore isn't available for breakfast. On a more positive note, we arrived at the hotel earlier than check- in time and the receptionist moved us to a different room as ours wasn't ready, which we really appreciated.

The hotel is in a great location, but that's pretty much the only thing good about it. I've never seen a smaller room, it was like staying in a closet and the floor appeared dirty. Good thing we weren't there much. We had a very small window against a brick wall, so don't expect a view (we didn't so it was kinda funny). We tried to use the drink tickets but no one was there when the vouchers said they would be in the morning to get coffee. The hot water went out the second night so that was frustrating (and we had already showered the night previously so yes we knew how to work the hot water) which is what the front desk lady implied when we told her there was no hot water. I was like well there's no hot water in the sink either unless you think we are too dumb to work that faucet too? Anyway we won't be staying there again.

Everything was great. Very clean and easy to locate. Right off of Times Square, so close to everything that we wanted to see.
-
This hotel had a great time square location, and staff was helpful and friendly enough. Hotel room could have used a full length mirror and better lighting. Being that every hotel around was hundreds of dollars more, this room was perfect for me.
-
The room itself was rather well decorated and convenient. It was really long to get the water hot in the shower however, and the shower knob really sensible. AC was a bit erratic and noisy.

Target grocery store around the corner on 42nd St. Rooms very small but clean. Price was a bargain. Would stay again.
-
Great hotel right next to Times Square. Bed was so comfortable we wanted to sleep all day. Our room was on the 2nd floor right above the bar but there was no noise from the bar or outside. We also appreciated that it was within walking distance to Penn Station, the Port Authority bus terminal and many subway stops, making it easy to get around. You can’t beat this, especially for the price. Will definitely stay here again.
-
Great- convenient location to shows. Room was clean. Didn't use the coupons for food next door, but was nice to have that option.

The location was fantastic. Easy walk to many food options, Penn Station, Times Square, Avenue of the Americas, and lots of sites. Multiple subway lines within a block or two. The shower was great. Room was small, but that's Manhattan. Staff was really nice. Loud from the music at the bar downstairs, but not too late.

It is in a great location, with friendly staff, and is clean. They have a bar on the first floor with excellent music. The first night our A/C was not working properly, but they fixed the problem immediately.
-
Excellent location. Staff was great. Bed comfortable. Room was small, but we expected that. Dinner at Garvey's was good and discount appreciated. Air conditioning was unpredictable, it was either off or running wild - no control. Shower horrible, overhead dribbled, no temperature control, scalding HOT water - VERY DANGEROUS!

Alfonso was courteous, knowledge and a very well communicated. The hotel was nice just needed some updates and amenities. There were extra pillows and blankets in the linen closet. Room was excellent. Had two TVs. Irish pub was warm and nice place with live music and numerous TVs so you can watch the game. Food was really good. Fiance got the burger and raved about it. The next morning I talked to the bartender about the discount and he couldn't give me my money back but he gave me a free coffee, which I was supposed to have and my fiance a drinky drink. Never had any problems with noise, smells, or nasty people. Everything smelt wonderful in our room and the doors really blocked out the noise outside. Unfortunately there was no free breakfast or coffee in the room. The hot water took at least 5 real minutes to warm up. The lights never came on outside on our terrace (we had the penthouse) The room waslacking decorations and was definitely feeling old looking. Two TVs two remotes that worked both TVs at the same time. The elevator had trouble coming to our floor when we pushed the button. Had to push it numerous times. There was no view. I reserved a room with a balcony. The Irish pub was really pricey and they forgot to give us our free drink and discount on our meal. Bathroom door was tough to work (open and close) There was no cups or plastic protection for the ice bucket. Most of the switches in the room did not work. No note pad and pen.

Location is excellent Room size

Room very very small. No where to sit only a small bed. Also air condition unit very loud. It was raining and all night I heard the rain hitting the unit. Also I booked through hotels .com and I was asked for a card for incidentals. Charge $150 to get back in a couple of days. That seems very steep
-
Staff was excellent both at check in and check out. Had issues adjusting the water temperature
-
You get what you pay for. Small room. Shower would get super hot then cold then hot again. Window Ac unit kept us cool. All in all it was what I paid for. Would stay here again.

The only thing good about this dump is the location We work for a nonprofit and they refused to remove $200 in taxes. I left a phone message for the Hotel's manager. He didn't return my call. I left my businsss card at the front desk and asked him to call me; he didn't. The arrogance is astounding. My first and last stay at Hotel Shocard!

The front desk staff, Natalia, was very helpful and friendly, and made my stay quite nice.

We stayed at the Shocard for 4 nights while enjoying NYC. The location is incredible with it being so close to Times Square, Hell’s Kitchen, Bryant Park and the subway within a 3 min walk. Yes, the rooms are smaller in size, but clean, comfortable and who spends their time in their room anyway when in NYC when there’s so much to do! They also have an area to put your clothes away and the bed was comfortable! There’s a great pub downstairs that’s part of the hotel called Garvey’s. The staff at the hotel check in and in the pub are super friendly and nice. Our expectations were exceeded considering some of the reviews we had read. Our room was so quiet, we didn’t hear the sounds from outside or downstairs at night. The A/C kept the room nice and comfortable during the 35 degree weather we were experiencing. We would definitely stay here again and wouldn’t hesitate.

Small but perfect! Water was hot and water pressure was amazing. Bed was comfortable and the AC was blasting!! Hot time while we were here so it was amazing. bar below is cool and nice to have! if we ever come to NY again we will come back the location is perfect.
