Great location and good clean facilities.

Excellent location

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to Central Park--- it is in a great location. Our room was clean, but the towels in our room were thin and frayed, and there was not an in-room coffee maker. The mini fridge was dented and sitting directly on the floor. The lounge behind check-in could be cleaner. The luggage room is understaffed for how busy the hotel is (they really need two people instead of one). Allow yourself plenty of time to retrieve bags you store if you're catching a train or flight! Also, heads up to anyone with fragrance sensitivities--- the lobby is HEAVILY perfumed. Our stay was ok, but we're not sure we'd stay here again.

about 15 minutes walk from Time Square. Overall it was a good choice.

The staff were also wonderful. On our first day, we got stuck because the elevators were so crowded that we couldn't get down from the seventh floor. The housekeeping staff kindly let us use the service elevator, which we really appreciated. They were very friendly and helpful. However, the elevators were by far the biggest problem. If you're in a hurry, be prepared to wait. They were always crowded, stopped on almost every floor, and sometimes seemed to have technical issues. This is definitely something the hotel should improve. The Wi-Fi was another disappointment. It was very slow, and in the evenings it would sometimes stop working completely. The rooms were also quite noisy because of the street outside. However, since the hotel is located in the heart of New York City, that's somewhat understandable. Despite these issues, I would still recommend this hotel because the location is excellent and the staff were amazing. I just hope the management improves the elevator situation, as it was the biggest downside of our stay.

Breakfast was good Beds were good but the room was so warm it was miserable

It was just average

I liked how kind was the housekeeper and the great cleaning service in my room.

This hotel is in desperate need of renovation. The room had cracks and holes in the walls, looked very worn down, and we had to wait for someone to repair it. After a long day of travel, this was extremely frustrating. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it. The hotel location was great and very convenient.

Staff was very kind and friendly. The rooms are big and clean, they seem to have been newly remodeled.
-
Great hotel and wonderful location! The rooms are very large and clean. Only thing I’d change is the elevators. During peak hours there would be a wait to get on and they were more likely completely full with people cramming in.

We had an amazing stay. Comfortable room

I stayed here with my two kids for 6 nights. The location was great, the hotel was clean, staff was friendly and we really enjoyed the music in the lounge every night. I would definitely stay here again.
-
The room had a strong musty, mop-like smell throughout our stay, which made it very uncomfortable. In addition, the air conditioning temperature could not be adjusted, so the room was either too warm or too cold. Unfortunately, these issues significantly affected our stay.

Good Staff

Clean room. Attentive staff. Convenient location.

Enjoyed our stay. Big room. Restaurant was very good and first class bartender for sure. Location did not work out for us after we booked several musicals on Broadway but that was our mistake. Otherwise a perfect stay.

The building is obviously very old, and that’s what gives it some of the old, grand hotel appeal. The lobby is dark, classic style with the rotating doors, and fairly well maintained. Front desk, staff were courteous and helpful, but the process to check-in was painfully slow. The room carpet edges, areas behind beds and furniture were dusty and dirty. And even our “premier” room with a supposed special street view was underwhelming compared to advertised pictures There’s no pool, no included breakfast, and the supposed discount from hotel concierge on the Big Bus tour was non-existent. One of the beds was so worn out with large dips in the middle that we had to ask for a different mattress, which one of the staff did make happen with a tip. Again, location, location. And we made it a positive experience :). We weren’t able to book earlier due to the circumstances of our trip, and wished we would have tried a different hotel for the $ 330 per night USD that we paid. We were first time visitors to New York and so others may find the quality and price reasonable for this location.

Our room was very clean and well tended to. All the staff was friendly. The front desk was great as well as the curbside attendant. We’ve stayed here many times.

This hotel boasts an unbeatable location ideal for exploring most NYC sights, just a short stroll to key tourist spots and surrounded by subway stations only a minute away for easy citywide travel. The building itself is beautiful, and the staff is exceptionally friendly. While the hotel is a bit older and our room lacked a microwave and fridge, our experience was still fantastic. Don't miss their restaurant and bar lounge—it's surprisingly affordable, and the drinks are fantastic.
