Amazing old school nyc

I found a hotel that remained out of shape and pretended to be proper. Not a good experience.

I have stayed at the Michaelangelo several times since May. I always find charges on my bill that should not be there. Aug 16th, I took my bf for breakfast at Carnegie diner. I was charged breakfast at the Michaelangelo for the same day. Why? I asked for special "something" for my bf since it was his birthday. They said they don't do that. So I said ok, let's forget it. 3 hours later, staff came to our room with 2 pelgrino waters and dried fruit/nuts. Hotel charged me when I said forget it. Being at this hotel is convenient and surrounded by all the things we love to do. Why add charges that should be on an invoice? Do you not want people that do not destroy a room. Our room had 2 chairs, no sofa. People next door smoking pot, stinking our room. People on our other side fighting. What happened to soundproofed room? Really disappointed on our stay this time. Staff was great. Hotel clean.

It should not score the rating it does as this.is disproportionate for what it is. I would say this hotel is in the mod to high 7s, absolutely no more.

Clean. Staff was amazingly nice. Doormen went above and beyond. Room was clean always. $400 deposit after I already paid almost $2000 for 4 nights. There’s a mini fridge but it’s full and a soda is $20 if you take it. So no where to put your own stuff but a trap to make you spend more money even though we didn’t touch any of the refreshments. Then they told me they was taking $180 of my $400 deposit. For what? I already paid all the fees prior to staying. Never used any room service or anything provided in mini bar or fridge. No damage done to room. Nothing. And still have received none of my deposit back. So you’re going to pay $2000 for 4 nights plus they’re going to make you put a $100 deposit for each night that they are going to find a way to take it. Also. A/c are too small to adequately cool the rooms. It was 95 outside and we set ac to 60 and it could not cool below 71. I called front desk twice in which they promptly sent maintenance but there was nothing they could do cause the unit was new it just couldn’t keep up. So they brought a fan. So $2400 for a luxury room that they give you a fan to help cool because their ac is trash. and once you leave they take your deposit. Very unhappy with ac. Taking my deposit, costs, and traps to make you spend more money on an already over expensive trip to end it with them taking even more money.

The staff was extremely helpful, especially Tordoro, the daytime doorman. He was always kind and friendly. He smiled non stop and went out of his way to make sure my daughter and I knew how to get where we were going.

The staff, the location. This was our 3rd time staying there in the last 5 years and love it!!!
