Frequently asked questions
How do I request group rates from hotels in Erie through Engine Groups?
When you need 9 or more rooms, submit your request through Engine Groups with your travel dates and room count. Engine Groups handles the room-block booking with the hotel. For 8 rooms or fewer, you can book directly on Engine.
How far in advance should I request a room block in Erie?
If your group is traveling during peak summer months or when a large event is scheduled, submit your request as early as possible. Hotels fill quickly during busy periods, and securing rooms early gives you more options. Even during quieter times, a few weeks of lead time helps ensure availability for your group.
How does a room block work, and why does the cutoff date matter?
A room block holds the rooms for your group until a cutoff date, usually a few weeks before arrival. After you book the block, travelers are assigned to rooms as they confirm their plans. If rooms go unused past the cutoff, the hotel may release them, so it's important to track your group's final count before that date.
What should I compare when choosing a hotel for a group in Erie?
Look at room count to make sure the hotel can accommodate your block, and check distance from downtown if proximity matters for your itinerary. Several hotels in Erie offer free breakfast, free parking, or a shuttle, and guest ratings give you a sense of the experience your travelers will have.
How does a group rate work?
When you book 9 or more rooms for the same dates, the hotel quotes a rate for the entire block instead of charging its public rate for each room. This block rate applies to all the rooms in your reservation. The rate is set when the hotel accepts your request.
