Frequently asked questions
What should I look for when comparing hotels for my wedding guests in Wilkes-Barre?
Start with the number of guest rooms available and how many event spaces the hotel offers, so you know there's capacity for both your reception and your guests. Check whether the property has a ballroom or large event space that fits your guest count. Also consider proximity to your ceremony site and amenities like on-site dining or parking for out-of-town guests.
What makes a hotel a good choice for hosting a wedding reception?
A good wedding hotel offers a ballroom or dedicated event space large enough for your guest count, plus enough guest rooms to accommodate out-of-town family and friends. On-site event space means your reception and overnight stay are in one place, which is convenient for everyone. Many properties also have smaller rooms that can serve as getting-ready suites, though those amenities vary by hotel.
How far in advance should I book a room block for my wedding?
Most couples reserve a room block six to nine months before the wedding date, especially if your celebration falls during a busy season or on a weekend. Booking early gives your guests more time to plan and often secures better availability. If you're planning a smaller guest list or an off-peak date, three to six months can work.
How do I book a block of rooms for out-of-town guests through Engine?
For a block of nine or more guest rooms, Engine Groups handles the booking for you. If you need eight rooms or fewer, you can book them yourself directly through Engine. Both options let you search and compare these hotels, and Engine offers pre-negotiated rates with no membership fee.
How does billing work when I book a wedding room block?
Engine offers consolidated invoicing, so you can see all your guest-room charges in one place. You have multiple payment options, and there's no membership fee to use the platform. This makes it easier to manage costs and keep track of who's staying where for your big day.
