“Our travel has more than doubled since we started using Engine, and I genuinely don't think we could have grown the way we have without it.”
The problem
Manual Travel Could Not Keep Up With the Data Center Boom
Travel is critical to the company. LINX deploys hundreds of crews nationwide for on-site scoping, installation, and project management, with multiple teams often traveling simultaneously to different job sites—and with data centers making up a growing share of the mix, many of those sites sit in remote areas far from major cities.
Originally, LINX managed travel manually: booking hotels directly, calling to arrange credit card authorization forms, tracking expenses in Excel, and reconciling costs through a decentralized process the finance team called “a nightmare.” The team briefly tried another workforce lodging platform before Engine, but it wasn't the right fit.
As LINX's data center business scaled alongside broader industry growth, the limitations became unsustainable. Credit card authorization forms were unreliable, with employees arriving at hotels at night to find the form wasn't on file, forcing them to put charges on personal cards. Fraud on company cards became a recurring issue. Receipts were nearly impossible to track down after the fact, leaving the team months behind on expense reporting with no single source of truth. And when project timelines shifted due to supply chain issues, weather, or other contractors, LINX absorbed the cost of unused hotel rooms with no way to recover it.
The solution
FlexPro, Direct Bill, and One Platform for Every Booking
LINX has used Engine since 2019, making nearly 4,500 bookings on the platform. Since the start of 2026 alone, monthly hotel spend has grown more than 18x as data center demand accelerated across the business.
FlexPro has been central to how LINX manages the unpredictability of field work. When a job finishes early, crews check out without penalty. When a project gets delayed by weather, supply shortages, or another contractor, LINX isn't absorbing the cost of unused nights.
Direct Bill transformed reconciliation for the finance team. Instead of chasing expenses across a decentralized system, all travel costs consolidate under one invoice. Travel coordinators assign a job number at booking, giving accounting a single source of truth and eliminating the receipt-chasing that previously left them months behind.
Engine's inventory of over 1 million hotels gives LINX options across the country, even for projects in remote locations where consumer booking sites run thin. Engine Rewards turns LINX's booking volume into ongoing value. Rather than applying points to individual project bookings, the team pools rewards for corporate events, covering hotels for internal training and company gatherings. And Engine's interface is simple enough that anyone on the team can book without specialized training—an important factor for a fast-growing operation constantly onboarding new travelers.

The results
$1.6 Million Saved and a Travel Team that Scales
In the last 12 months, LINX saved over $1.6 million on travel across nearly 4,500 bookings. Over the same period, FlexPro protected $2.5 million in travel spend through cancellations and early checkouts.
Direct Bill eliminated the months-long reconciliation backlog that previously consumed the travel and finance teams, freeing coordinators to focus on the logistics of a fast-growing operation.
Even as LINX's systems operations business grew 16x—from $1 million to $16 million a year—their internal travel team only doubled, and support issues held flat or trended down.
